Frequently Asked Questions
What is CGPA and how is it calculated?
CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the weighted average of all SGPA/GPA across semesters. It’s computed by dividing total grade points (credit × grade point) by total credit hours.
What is SGPA and how is it different from GPA?
SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) measures performance for one semester. GPA is a more general term, commonly used in U.S. universities, but both are semester averages.
How to convert CGPA to percentage?
Most Indian universities use Percentage = CGPA × 9.5. Always verify with your institution’s official policy.
Can I calculate SGPA for multiple semesters?
Yes—SGPA is calculated per semester. To get CGPA, simply average weighted SGPA scores across semesters.
How accurate is your CGPA calculator?
It performs calculation up to two decimal points. Accuracy depends on correct credits and grade entries.
What grade points do you use?
Standard scales: A+ = 4.0, A = 4.0, A‑ = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, etc., depending on university standards.
Can I enter more than 8 subjects?
Yes—the calculator supports unlimited subjects per semester, as long as credits and grades are entered.
Why is CGPA lower than expected?
Low CGPA may result from low grades in high‐credit courses or missing entries.
Is GPA on 4.0 scale convertible to CGPA?
Yes. You can convert by CGPA ≈ (GPA ÷ 4.0) × 10, though institutional policies may vary slightly.
How do I reset the calculator?
Use the ‘Reset’ button to clear all entries and results instantly.
Does this tool work on mobile?
Absolutely. Our UI is fully responsive and optimized for mobile, tablets, and desktops.
Is signup required to use tools?
No—you don’t need to register or log in. Our tools are completely free and ad-free.
Can this calculator be used globally?
Yes—supporting India, U.S., Canada, Pakistan, and many grading systems worldwide.
What if I enter invalid credits or grade?
The result will default to zero or show an error. Ensure all entries are valid numbers and recognized grades.
How many decimal places are supported?
CGPA/SGPA results are rounded to two decimal places for clarity and consistency.
Can I edit any semester after adding it?
Yes—our interface lets you delete and re-add semesters or subjects easily.

What if my university uses a different percentage conversion?
Use the CGPA-to-percentage tool and confirm with your university’s official policy.
Can I calculate my graduation CGPA?
Yes—if you have SGPA or credit and grade data for all semesters, our calculator can determine your graduation CGPA.
Why is CGPA and percentage inconsistent?
Percent conversions are approximate; across universities, multipliers may vary.
Does adding more subjects increase CGPA?
Not necessarily—CGPA depends on grade point weighted by credits, not number of subjects.
Can I export results?
Currently you can manually copy or screenshot results. Export features may be added soon.
How do I change grade point values?
Grade point values are fixed based on grade, but customization might be supported in future updates.
Can SGPA be more than 10?
In most Indian systems SGPA max is 10. U.S. GPA max is 4.0. Combined CGPA remains within appropriate scale.
What if I missed entering credits for a subject?
Missing credit quality results in miscalculation. Every subject needs both credits and grade.
Can I use this tool offline?
No—it's a web-based tool requiring an internet connection to load the UI.
Is CGPA reset when I add semesters?
Only if you manually use the Reset button. Otherwise previously entered data persists.
Why use CGPA over percentage?
CGPA handles credit weighting better and normalizes across course difficulty levels.
Do recruiters accept online-calculated CGPA?
Yes—as long as it's accurate. It’s commonly used for applications and transcripts.
